Amazon specialists want to teach the virtual voice assistant Alexa, equipped with artificial intelligence, to anticipate users ‘ desires and offer options for their implementation. At the same time, a person will not need to voice their intentions, as stated in the company’s blog.
For example, if the user asks the machine the question “how long does it take to make strong tea?”, then the hidden purpose may be to start the timer to brew a cup of tea. With the new property, Alexa will be able to answer this question: “five minutes”, and then continue by asking: “Do you want to set a timer for five minutes?»
This will improve the user’s interaction with the virtual assistant. The main goal is to make communication so natural that it looks like a dialogue with a person. “Now we are taking another step towards natural interaction with the ability that allows Alexa to identify hidden human intentions – intentions that the user puts into their request, but does not pronounce them directly,” the company’s specialists say.
How is this possible? Experts recognize that achieving this level of development of the virtual assistant is not easy and it requires the introduction of new algorithms. Alexa needs to analyze a number of functions in user requests and compare them. Artificial intelligence will also study user behavior and remember it. A deep machine learning model is used to prepare an artificial neural network. The algorithm evaluates the user’s intentions, starting from the text of the human-machine dialogue and ending with the user’s previous experience of communicating with Alexa.
