The paper presents a novel field oriented speed sensorless vector control algorithm for induction generators. The proposed controller exploits the concept of direct field orientation and provides asymptotic DC link voltage regulations when DC load current is constant or slowly varying. An output-feedback linearizing technique is employed for the voltage controller design. The proposed control algorithm has well defined tuning procedure and guarantees system performance stabilization for all physical operation modes. Results of simulation study shows that voltage regulation performances, achieved with proposed sensorless controller, are of the same level as in the system with speed measurement. Controller is suitable for standalone and grid connected (via suitable inverter) renewable and traditional generation systems.
