Program “Electromechanical Automation Systems, Electric Drive and Electromobility”,faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automatics of “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”

Nonlinear and digital automatic control systems

The discipline “Nonlinear and Digital Automatic Control Systems” (NDACS) is an organic continuation of the discipline “Automatic Control Theory” (YES). The subject of study of the discipline NDACS are the principles and methods of construction, calculation and research of nonlinear and discrete automatic control systems (ACS). Knowledge of the basics of the theory of nonlinear and discrete ACS is fundamental to mastering the specialty 141 in the educational program “Electromechanical automation systems, electric drive and electric mobility”, as the main tasks of automation of electromechanical objects are automatic control.

The NDACS discipline combines two important classes of systems – nonlinear and discrete. The program of nonlinear ACSs includes the phase plane method, the direct Lyapunov method and Popov’s criterion, methods of harmonic and vibrational linearization, as well as methods of applying compensatory nonlinearities to improve the quality of control. The program of discrete ACS includes types of signal modulation and quantization, difference equations and z-transforms, methods of obtaining discrete transfer functions, Kotelnikov-Shannon impulse theorem, methods of stability research, methods of synthesis of digital regulators.
