Scientific cooperation between the Igor Sikorskyi KPI and the Technical University of Central Hessen

Despite the war, Igor Sikorskyi KPI continues scientific cooperation with the Technical University of Central Hessen.

As part of this cooperation, Hanna Zemlyanukhina , a graduate student of the Department of Automation of Electromechanical Systems and Electric Drives of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Ihor Sikorskyi Polytechnic Institute” has spent the past six months conducting research on the subject of her dissertation at the Department of Information Technologies, Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics of the Technical University of Central Hessen.

Her research is devoted to energy-efficient control of turbomechanical electromechanical systems with alternative power sources. The relevance of the research is due to the significant distribution of centrifugal fans and pumps and their use in a wide range of applications. To provide energy-efficient control, they are usually equipped with asynchronous motors to control three-phase drives. This equipment opens up the possibility of implementing advanced energy saving technologies in air and water supply systems. The main goal of the ongoing research is the development of a sensorless control system for turbomechanical systems operating from an alternative energy source, namely a wind turbine.

This innovative solution is able to reduce system costs, as it is based on the principles of artificial neural networks instead of technological coordinate sensors. In addition, these neural networks are used to implement an efficiency observer that analyzes the energy efficiency of such systems under different operating conditions.
