Control of electric drives-3. Course project

Modern AC electric drive systems based on vector-controlled synchronous and induction motors convert about 35-40% of the world’s electricity generated into mechanical work. The purpose of the discipline is to study the basic methods of vector control of electromechanical energy conversion in electric drives, the principles of construction of coordinate control systems (torque, angular velocity and position), construction of control algorithms, calculation of control parameters. In the discipline, the results of theoretical positions are confirmed by studies of dynamic and static characteristics of electric drives by full-scale modeling. The issues of optimization of management processes are considered.

Course project allows to acquire practical skills in design and development of electromechanical systems based on vector-controlled electric AC machines, calculation of regulators and study of electromechanical system dynamics by simulation. One of the individual task is the study of robustness properties of vector control algorithms with respect to motor active resistances variations.
