The research methodology of electric vehicles electromechanical systems consisting of synchronous electric drives and hybrid energy storages is developed. The simulation platform for investigation of the complete electromechanical system is validated on the base of separate experimental tests of the hybrid energy storage system and vector-controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drive. The simulation testing results of the most spread topologies of energy storage for electric vehicles based on batteries and supercapacitors are given. The load for energy storages is calculated based on the experimental transients of a drive system. The integrals of squared battery current and its rate of change are compared to analyze the battery ageing characteristics.
